Residential Infrastructure Wiring Video Training Course

To ensure that your house wiring meets applicable electrical codes, in wall speaker wire should be used for installing in wall speakers and ceiling speakers.  Likewise, outdoor speakers should be connected with outdoor speaker wire.  Landscape speakers that will be placed or mounted in the ground need direct burial speaker wire.  Be sure to check out our hints for how to run speaker wire and hiding speaker wire.

Installing speaker wire should ALWAYS be done with your audio/video equipment UNPLUGGED.  You should never install speaker wire in a high traffic area of your home where people or pets can possibly trip over dangling and loose wires.  Be sure that when you connect the speaker wire's positive and negative leads that there is no chance of them touching each other.  Be sure to observe speaker wire polarity (positive and negative) when connecting speaker wires.  You should always have wiring done by someone who is qualified to do the work.
